JRM Welcomes Manny The Frenchie to Chicago
JR Motorsports | Article Published 7/17/2013
This weekend when the NASCAR Nationwide Series visits Chicagoland Speedway, the lucky dog won’t necessarily be a car on the track.
It might be an actual dog. Go figure.
Manny The Frenchie – the pure bred French bulldog that has become an internet sensation with more than 275,000 followers on Instagram – will attend his first NASCAR race this weekend, according to his owners, John Huang and Amber Chavez, of Chicago. They will take Manny to the STP 300 this Sunday (3 pm ET / 2 pm CT on ESPN), where Regan Smith and Brad Sweet will compete in race 18 of 33 of the 2013 Nationwide Series season.
To enrich Manny’s experience, the team from JR Motorsports sent Manny a dog jersey from the JR Nation retail store’s pet selection. After all, if you’re going to a NASCAR event, you have to look the part. Manny will carry the number of his favorite driver, the No. 88 of Dale Earnhardt Jr.
“Dale is definitely Manny’s favorite driver,” said Huang. “Manny will be wearing his 88 jersey to the track this weekend as long as it’s not too hot.”
But the question begs to be asked – how will Manny handle the news when he learns Dale Jr. is not in the race?
“He’s not going to be there?” asked Huang. “Manny will definitely be sad.”
No worries, Manny. Wearing Junior gear when it’s not applicable to the present activity is what marks a true Junior fan. Just ask Killer.
